Natural rope structure
The woven canopy structure for more comfortable shade
Many cities in the Emirates have a long history of shipping and any techniques used in the marine and shipping industry. Among them are some techniques for weaving and twisting natural ropes, which are excellent for use in harsh conditions. For this reason, a design has been developed that uses natural ropes that are woven into prefabricated panels and become a natural sunscreen in a variety of ways. Using the Intersection in Abu Dhabi as an example, a series of shade walls have been installed to provide shade for pedestrians while they linger or stroll.
THREE DIMENSIONAL ROPE WEAVING
TEXTILE ARCHITECTURE FROM NATURAL FIBRES
The individual wall elements have more than 10 rope panels on one meter width. The special look and the individual shadows are created by the three-dimensional woven natural rope, which is woven into the individual panels on a 3D weaving machine. The advantage of the automated weaving can be seen in the fast production and efficient construction. Thus, large areas can be woven by sustainable ropes within a shorter time. The special structures have different projections at the arms at this place, so that above all for an optimal shade throw around the midday time is provided.
