A WATER FEATURE INTEGRATED INTO THE COURTYARD OG THE ZURICH UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES, PROVIDES REFRESHMENT IN THE SUMMERTIME AND CREATES A SPECIAL ATMOSPHERE BOTH DAY AND NIGHT. IN THE EVENING A LIT OF WATER PUNCTUATES THE SKYLINE AND ADDS APPEAL TO THE SIHLPOST-AREA. WHEN THE FOUNTAINS ARE INACTIVE, THE SPACE CAN BE USED FOR ALMOST ANY CONCEIVABLE EVENT.
THE FOUNTAIN AND THE UMBRELLAS
The umbrellas act as a sun shading element as well as a protective canopy in case of rain. In the evening the undersides of the parasols are lit. They illuminate the immediate surroundings and invite passers-by to enjoy the space. Seen from the tops of the adjacent buildings, a harmonious visual effect is created by the grid-form arrangement of parasols over the square.

TEXTILE OUTDOOR-ARCHITECTURE
The customized design consists of galvanized steel structure, with a pole measuring 150 mm in diameter, a rain gutter with a lateral outlet as well as a membrane composed of 100% polyester and coated both sides with PVC. With this coating it has a weight of 500 g/m². The color of the cover is transparent-gray, which creates a fascinating effect when the fabric is under-lit or when coloured light from the water-feature is reflected off the canopy.
